Hi all,
Does anybody try to play movies over 1024x1024 via mga_vid?
On sources 720p 1280x720 for example mga-vid works but I have 3 areas, Left
side of the screen show right side of the picture right side of screen shows
left side of picture, center is ok.
Its look like this. Left and write side has changed
-----------------------------
| | | |
| 1 | 3 | 2 |
-----------------------------
Zone 1 and 2 are switched, zone 3 is ok

I have Matrox G450 16M Dual head

Matrox MGA G200/G400/G450/G550 YUV Video interface v2.01 (c) Aaron Holtzman
& A'rpi
mga_vid: Found MGA G400/G450 at 0000:01:00.0 [0000:01:00.0]
mga_vid: MMIO at 0x42e10000 IRQ: 9 framebuffer: 0xF0000000
mga_vid: OPTION word: 0x400A1120 mem: 0x04 SDRAM
mga_vid: RAMSIZE forced to 16 MB
syncfb (mga): IRQ disabled in mga_vid.c
mga_vid: 1 supported cards found
mga_vid: using major: 178 (assigned or default!)

I have exactly the same problem with xvidix

On 1080p ( 1920x1080) mga_vid filed to initialize xvidix is working but zone
1 and 2 are wide and zone 3 is narrow

-----------------------------
| | | |
| 1 | 3 | 2 |
-----------------------------

I am sorry but i am not able to send screenshot.

Sorry for the english.

Hm.. It is interesting that you get a picture at all.
mga_vid should reject all picture sizes larger than 1024x768.

What kernel version, mga_vid version and which player do you use ?

Is this a hardware or software limitation? Maybe some quick & dirty
software scaling from source size to 1024x768 would be good for playing
HD material.

It's limited by software, iirc, have to read the specs again.
But i know that at least the G200 has problems if the video
resolution gets too big (clocking problems in the back end scaler).

This part of the code is really old, would not surprise me
if it was written by Aaron Holtzman, so it is likely to
be outdated by now.

Also software scaling from large resolution sources
down isn't something you can easily do as you will
reach the IO bandwith limit of your system.
